Today:
began with making breakfast {oatmeal with strawberries} for the family
followed by visiting Centerpoint Church
lunch consisted of Five Guys burgers, a rewarding lunch for my triathlete husband
home to digest with some Nascar for the boys and Tangled for V
later was the gym with V for a little time on an elliptical like machine {I am not running for the moment due to my lower back}
the gym was followed by some quiet time at home
while the boys watched Nascar and V Tangled {again}, I snuck upstairs to my room and for the first time in a long time,
I relaxed on my bed and read
it was blissfully wonderful and energized me for the rest of the day, which consisted of cleaning out/organizing our garage
My peaceful time reading in my room impacted me so much today. It reminded me how much I desire, need, miss time to myself. It also motivated me to take a look at my “to read” books that are patiently waiting for me. Therefore, let me introduce you to:
Do you have a stack/list of to read books? This stack takes up one corner of my desk. A desk that I share with others, specifically one.
that would be a flossing stick in her mouth
We don’t have a dvd player therefore V watches her movies on our laptop. It used to be the desktop but it decided to stop working completely about 2 weeks ago. I’ve made three appointments for the Apple store and have yet to make it in. Yup, pretty much.
Back to the books. Do you recognize any?
. my bible {it’s not a “too read” book. it’s kept on top for easy access.}
. DMV motorcycle manual
. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt {given to me by my sister Em on my recent trip to Oklahoma. it’s one of her favorite books.}
. The Woman I am Becoming by T. Suzanne Eller {J gave this to me a few years back. I have never finished it. I am determined.}
. Design by Brian McMillan {a book a pastor friend of ours recently wrote. he is the pastor of the church we visited today.}
. Black Heels to Tractor Wheels by Ree Drummond aka The Pioneer Woman {my anniversary gift from J.}
All of these books I am excited about and yet, all are very different from each other. I haven’t read a book in a while. The last one I read was a book by my brother Juan entitled God’s Beggars, My Adventures Discovering God in the Inner City. It was my second time through. Now that we are a little more settled, I think I am ready to pick up another and get to reading. The hard part is choosing which book to read. Hmm…
What do you think I should start my summer reading of with? What are you reading at the moment?
I’ve got Black Heels to Tractor Wheels in my stack too! Maybe we could read it together. We could start next Sunday which gives me the motivation to finish my current book throughout this week. Shall we? 🙂
I think that’s a great idea!! I always want to have a little reading partner! =) Let’s do it! Now hurry up and finish your current book! =)
Booklists are so inspiring to me! Thanks for sharing…now I look forward to what you have to say about them, right? 🙂 Your photos are beautiful, by the way. Lovely blog.
